Technorati

What can I say about Technorati, except oh my god. Learning 2.0 has been an exciting and interesting experience for me. I seem overwhelmed at times, but each day I know will be better for me. It is alot to take in, but I am willing to learn new things-even if it is not my cup of tea. Let's just say that Technorati is pretty neat. I especially like that if your looking for something particular and you click on that certain blog, that it will show you a full article or a list of articles. It sounds like I am writing a run on sentence, but I think I understand what Technorati is. I think it is pretty amazing.

Tagging and Del.icio.us

What can I say about Tagging and Del.icio.us-but oh my god. I am lost-most definitely, but I am willing to try new things-of course I am. I can see the library system using this information to help better assisting customers on a faster pace. I think it is a good idea. This is a great tool to have and use. That is all I have this time.

My Space

The experience I had with my space is not good. I looked at it thoroughly, but still don't understand it to well, but am willing to learn more about my space. I know an awful alot of people do use my space and they love it, but it is just not me. However, I am willing to try new things. I know it is an easier way to keep in touch with people-family, friends, etc. Sure my opinion about myspace is different now. That is all I have to say this time.

411 on Social Networking

I think it would be a great idea for the VBPL to use social networking. It is a new a way to communicate with teens. It is advanced and its more efficient to use. The new technology is out there and it is here to stay. Also, since teens are usually on the computer 24/7 doing homework, emailing, etc. why not have social networking in the VBPL, there might be some teens that can not simply make it to the library. I however, don't use this, but am willing to try and learn new things especially new technology, new things on the computer. That is all this time around.

Wikis

Wow-I found wikis very intersting. You can find alot of information on this website. It allows you to easily add, remove and edit contents, which I liked. I especially like the wikipedia, full of information. The new technology of the libraries is coming and here to stay. I noticed every wiki is set up differently, and all has full of information that can be used. I really enjoyed the VBPL Reader's Advisory Wiki-that was real neat. I enjoyed adding my favorite book and talking a little about it too. Wiki is very cool. It is getting exciting each time-learning more and more new things. That is all I have to say this time.

IM (Instant Messaging)

Instant Messaging (IM) is way cool. It is a form of online communication that allows us to communicate with one or more people. It's something like email, but more private. You can also have a group converstion as well-how cool is that. I think it is a great idea that libraries are starting to use IM (Instant Messaging). It is a great new way of communicating with people on line. Also, it helps those people that are unable to get out of the house-no vehicle, the elderly, etc. IM (Instant Messaging) is more advanced and more newer than the old fashioned method that we communicate with people. The bottom line is this IM (Instant Messaging) is so cool. I recommend everyone trying atleast once, but then you will want to use this all the time. It is quick, fast and easy to learn.

RSS "4"Feeds

I just would like to say that I do like Google Reader better than the other ones that were listed that we could use. It seemed easier and simplier to me. It seemed exciting to set up our RSS feeds and to find out how quickly the information comes to us. I did try some of the other sites they gave us to try, but I found out that Google Reader was a better choice for me to use. I am learning so much as we go along further into Learining 2.0 at the beach. I sometimes seem overwhelmed by all this new technology that we are using now, but also knowing that it is here to stay and the future for libraries. I just take day by day on this, but again am learning so much. That is all I have to say this time. Until the next post.

RSS Feeds

Let me just say-oh my god-what a great idea. It is amazing how quickly you can get the information sent to you without hardly looking it up. Wow-technology has come a long way. I kinda like RSS Feeds. I can't wait to add more RSS feeds to my google reader.

Learning 2.0

Learning 2.0 what it means to me:

This will be a lifelong learning experience and I am willing to try it, and learn new things from it. It is exciting to know that new technology is out there, and it is here to stay. It seems scary at times, but I am willing to try it. Also, it is exciting that I am sharing my experience with my peers and hearing what they have to say about Learning 2.0. I can't wait to get to next week's session of learning about RSS.

7 1/2 Habits

My Strongest Habits are: 1. Accept responsibility for my own learning-

I love new challenges, and I am willing to put forth the effort
to accomplish my goals.


2. Have confidence in myself as a competent, effective learner:
I know if I set my mind to it, I can learn anything.



My Weakest Habits are: 1. Use technology to my advantage-

The word technology scares me, because it seems to me that
something new comes out every month, every year. However, the
advantage for me is to learn what new technology is out there, and
succeed in this, and not to be afraid to fulfill it.
