Thing 30-Summarize

Let me just say that it is over, and I feel pretty good about myself for finishing this project, now will I remember what I did, that is another story. The outcome of this program that surprised me was, I never have used MySpace, IM, Librarything, etc. I only use the computer for what I know about it. If I do not know something, then I ask someone to show me. I am a hands on person, you got to show me so that way I will understand it, but I am a quick learner. What you could have done to improve on this project is, not to move it so quickly, take your time on it, there are 12 months in a year, so there was plenty of time to work on it, there are quite a bit of us that have other tasks, projects, jobs to do, but we know we had a deadline to get this project done, and I was grateful you extended the deadline, for those of us that are much slower. The format was ok, nothing to change on that. If you offer another discovery program like this in the near future, Yes I would try it out, god knows it wouldn't hurt to learn new things, but also again, I am a hands on person, so reading it helps, but showing me helps alot better. I did not mind participating in this learning 2.0 experience, but let me tell you I am glad it is over.

Lastly, where is my MP3 player-I am ready for it. I know, we are to receive it at the All Staff Training Day.

Thing 29-Learning Experience w/2.0

What can I say, but only one more Thing to go and then I am finished. Well, it wasn't too bad, but I do know that this was a great opportunity to learn new tools with technology, and also to see what might happen in the future with the library department. Now, will I remember what I did in all of these things-probably not, but I did try. Now, at times I felt that you were being rushed to finish the Things during that week as scheduled , and then next week as scheduled, and so on. I felt, that maybe we could have worked together as a group instead of by yourself, I would have not felt so overwhelemed by all of this. I am a hands on person, reading things sometimes gets me puzzled/confused, but if you show me, then I can follow along much better and learn much better. I did check some of my other peers blogs-some of them went all the way, and some of them like me just went with the flow. Overall, it was a great experience, but I am glad it is almost over with. I'm not much into blogging, IM, YouTube, I am just an average person that goes with the flow with computers, or what interests me that is. However, I am willing to try new things even if it is with technology.

I really liked checking this out. I looked at Free Photos, and checked out the celeb photos. I thought this was a great site to browse through. Now, when I started browsing and wanting to get more information, then I noticed that you had to join to get that information you needed-now I did not like that at all. Bascially, I did not want to sign up for another account. I try to remember the accounts I have and passwords, but answer to the question I think this would be a great site for anyone to use. Now, moving on to Thing 29-almost done with Learning 2.0.

WOW-now this was exciting to try and do. I loved doing this one. I had a co-worker show me, but afterwards- I am still amazed of what I had learned. It's a pic of Ben and me. What you can do, let me tell you is so awesome. Now, will I remember what I was showed, and what I did is another thing. Again, this was really neat to do and try. Thing 25-Podcasting and Libraries

I thought this site was neat. I checked out Sheridan Libraries Podcasts, and there site was very user friendly. In fact some of the information it had reminded me of our own website. Again, I read, I looked at, I tried what I did or coud know, but again this is not my cup of tea. I think if you have customers that want to know or learn about podcasts more power to them. This could be useful information for customers too. Anyhow, that is all I have to say about that. Until next time.

I had trouble with this one. One of the tools you clicked on it would not allow to access, so I chose another one, and I am sorry I could not locate anything dealing with the library or anything about library news. Now, I did like the yahoo podcasts-audio part, however, some of the downloads you have to fork over money to purchase-which I did not like about. Over all I read it, I looked at it, and tried what I could, but again this not my cup of tea. That is all this time.

Thing 23-You Tube

What can I say except this was a neat site. It sure back alot of memories especially the 70's commericals. I especially liked the slinky, inchworm ones the best. The McDonld's commerical was so funny. In fact I remembered when it was on TV. I can't say I disliked this site, but it is not my cup of tea. I did some looking, and reading and from that I have learned quite a bit. YouTube is neat, but not for me. That is all I got to say about this.

Thing 22-Flickr, mashups and 3rd party sites

OH MY GOD-am I totally lost-yes, but may I say WOW too. This is amazing of what you can do. I think it is really neat that you can make your own trading cards. WOW-how amazing is that. Who would ever thought that there would be "library trading cards". I think this is really neat, but again not my cup of tea. If you are really into doing stuff like this, then this is for you, but I am just an average girl. It is also amazing that you can make maps, match pictures to a specific color and create a photo mosaic from photos found on Flickr-now that was pretty neat. Well, that is all this time.

Thing 21-More Flickr and tagging

What can I say, except I think it is real neat that you can make books, cards, frame prints and beyond more than that with Flickr, especially if you enjoy being creative. Now, I think the tagging of your photos is really neat too, because just say your looking for a specific picture and you need it right now, you tag your pictures and bam look for the pictures, and bam you got your certain picture that you needed. That was awesome. Both are really neat, if it is your cup of tea.

What can I say about Flickr, except that if you like taking pictures and posting them on the web then this site is for you. I on the other hand wouldn't want to post pictures on the web to me that is private. Unless it was only family members then I may consider sending them. What can I say but I am old fashion gal, I do not even have a digital camera yet. However, if I enjoyed taking lots of pictures and enjoyed posting them, then yes this site is great for it. I could share it with everyone, or whoever would love to see them. Again, wow technology what we do without it.

Thing 19-Web 2.0 Awards List

Now-I thought this was awesome. I had a co-worker walk me through it and when everything was done-like I said WOW, I am impressed about this. I loved it, I really do not dislike anything about this. The sites were very useful. I could definitely see applications use in the library system. I went through igoogle-which now I believe I have an account through, if i set it up right. I liked that you could add different lists to your igoogle page. I thought I loved the social networking better, but this so far is the one I like the best. I think I am getting to understand a little of each thing, but then sometimes I get overwhelmed. Basically, I just try and take each day as it comes. Until next thing.

What can I say about Technorati, except oh my god. Learning 2.0 has been an exciting and interesting experience for me. I seem overwhelmed at times, but each day I know will be better for me. It is alot to take in, but I am willing to learn new things-even if it is not my cup of tea. Let's just say that Technorati is pretty neat. I especially like that if your looking for something particular and you click on that certain blog, that it will show you a full article or a list of articles. It sounds like I am writing a run on sentence, but I think I understand what Technorati is. I think it is pretty amazing.

Tagging and Del.icio.us

What can I say about Tagging and Del.icio.us-but oh my god. I am lost-most definitely, but I am willing to try new things-of course I am. I can see the library system using this information to help better assisting customers on a faster pace. I think it is a good idea. This is a great tool to have and use. That is all I have this time.

My Space

The experience I had with my space is not good. I looked at it thoroughly, but still don't understand it to well, but am willing to learn more about my space. I know an awful alot of people do use my space and they love it, but it is just not me. However, I am willing to try new things. I know it is an easier way to keep in touch with people-family, friends, etc. Sure my opinion about myspace is different now. That is all I have to say this time.

411 on Social Networking

I think it would be a great idea for the VBPL to use social networking. It is a new a way to communicate with teens. It is advanced and its more efficient to use. The new technology is out there and it is here to stay. Also, since teens are usually on the computer 24/7 doing homework, emailing, etc. why not have social networking in the VBPL, there might be some teens that can not simply make it to the library. I however, don't use this, but am willing to try and learn new things especially new technology, new things on the computer. That is all this time around.

Wikis

Wow-I found wikis very intersting. You can find alot of information on this website. It allows you to easily add, remove and edit contents, which I liked. I especially like the wikipedia, full of information. The new technology of the libraries is coming and here to stay. I noticed every wiki is set up differently, and all has full of information that can be used. I really enjoyed the VBPL Reader's Advisory Wiki-that was real neat. I enjoyed adding my favorite book and talking a little about it too. Wiki is very cool. It is getting exciting each time-learning more and more new things. That is all I have to say this time.

IM (Instant Messaging)

Instant Messaging (IM) is way cool. It is a form of online communication that allows us to communicate with one or more people. It's something like email, but more private. You can also have a group converstion as well-how cool is that. I think it is a great idea that libraries are starting to use IM (Instant Messaging). It is a great new way of communicating with people on line. Also, it helps those people that are unable to get out of the house-no vehicle, the elderly, etc. IM (Instant Messaging) is more advanced and more newer than the old fashioned method that we communicate with people. The bottom line is this IM (Instant Messaging) is so cool. I recommend everyone trying atleast once, but then you will want to use this all the time. It is quick, fast and easy to learn.

RSS "4"Feeds

I just would like to say that I do like Google Reader better than the other ones that were listed that we could use. It seemed easier and simplier to me. It seemed exciting to set up our RSS feeds and to find out how quickly the information comes to us. I did try some of the other sites they gave us to try, but I found out that Google Reader was a better choice for me to use. I am learning so much as we go along further into Learining 2.0 at the beach. I sometimes seem overwhelmed by all this new technology that we are using now, but also knowing that it is here to stay and the future for libraries. I just take day by day on this, but again am learning so much. That is all I have to say this time. Until the next post.

RSS Feeds

Let me just say-oh my god-what a great idea. It is amazing how quickly you can get the information sent to you without hardly looking it up. Wow-technology has come a long way. I kinda like RSS Feeds. I can't wait to add more RSS feeds to my google reader.

Learning 2.0

Learning 2.0 what it means to me:

This will be a lifelong learning experience and I am willing to try it, and learn new things from it. It is exciting to know that new technology is out there, and it is here to stay. It seems scary at times, but I am willing to try it. Also, it is exciting that I am sharing my experience with my peers and hearing what they have to say about Learning 2.0. I can't wait to get to next week's session of learning about RSS.

7 1/2 Habits

My Strongest Habits are: 1. Accept responsibility for my own learning-

I love new challenges, and I am willing to put forth the effort
to accomplish my goals.

2. Have confidence in myself as a competent, effective learner:
I know if I set my mind to it, I can learn anything.

My Weakest Habits are: 1. Use technology to my advantage-

The word technology scares me, because it seems to me that
something new comes out every month, every year. However, the
advantage for me is to learn what new technology is out there, and
succeed in this, and not to be afraid to fulfill it.
